The Sri Sathya Sai Baba Centre of Penang
Introduction to our Guru, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba
His Life
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba is having a profound impact
on the lives of millions around the world,
motivating and inspiring them to turn Godward, to
practice brotherhood, to serve the needy, and to
strive to lead constructive and virtuous lives.
Born in Southern India on November 23rd, 1926, in a then
unknown village called Puttaparthi, he
began his mission at the age of fourteen. He leads a
simple life at the ashram located near the
village of his birth.
Sathya Sai Baba has established hospitals, elementary and
secondary schools and colleges, and a
major university in India, all of which provide services
at little or no charge. He has also inspired the
creation of over 5000 Sathya Sai Baba Centres throughout
the world, where followers practice his
spiritual teachings and engage in a variety of community
service activities , while continuing to
adhere to their respective religions.
His Message
Sathya Sai Baba teaches that man's basic nature is
divine, and the purpose of life is the realisation
of that divinity. This will occur, he says, through
leading a moral life, rendering selfless service to
those in need, and developing love and respect for all
life.
He re-emphasises principles that form the foundation of
the world's major religions: Truth, Right
Conduct, Peace, Love and Non-violence. He encourages us
to practice these human values in our
daily lives, and sets an inspiring example by the way he
leads his own life.
He also says that politics without principles, education
without character, science without
humanity and commerce without morality are not only
useless, but positively dangerous.
His Mission
Sathya Sai Baba has demonstrated by word and deed that he
is neither seeking to establish a new
religion nor to direct people towards a particular
religion. He encourages those attracted to his
message to continue worshipping along lines already
familiar to you i.e. to feed the roots of one's
own religion.
He says Let the different faiths exist, let them
flourish, and let the glory of God be sung in all
languages and in a variety of tunes. That should be the
ideal. Respect the differences between
faiths, and recognise them as valid, as long as they do
not extinguish the flame of unity. If each
person lives the ideals propounded by the founders of his
religion, unaffected by greed or hate, then
the world will be a happy and peaceful habitation for man
.
His Love
Sathya Sai Baba displays extraordinary abilities and
knowledge that have confounded the laws of
science as understood by man today. He himself has
dismissed these miracles attributed to him as
trivial and unimportant. These only exist to, show the
scientifically minded man of today that there
exists forces that transcend science. His most heralded
characteristic is that he radiates powerful
feelings of inner peace and unselfish love.
Sathya Sai Baba stresses faith and confidence as
necessary requisites for a happy and successful
life. He says Confidence leads to peace, peace leads to
love, love leads to truth, truth leads to bliss.
The responsibility for bringing about world peace, says
Sathya Sai Baba, rests with the individual.
His prescription is simple, yet profound.
