Chamukutty Iyer is the earliest part of the Koduvayur Family Tree that we know of at present. He lived first in Kanjikiode, in Palakkad District, Kerala, India, working as a priest in the Temple there. Later he moved to Koduvayur, also in Palakkad. In Koduvayur, he bought a house on New Street, facing the Viswanathaswamy Temple. His wife was Meenakshi Ammal. They had 12 known children, eight sons and four daughters. Chamukutty Iyer passed away sometime in the early part of the twentieth century. He was survived by his wife and children, who continued to live at New Street Koduvayur.
