Vijay, was born on 13th July 1984, in Penang, Malaysia as the second child of two children born to Dorai (Markandan) and Annapoorani (Geetha).
He lived in Penang, doing his primary education at the Batu Lancang Primary School, from 1991 to 1996. He did his secondary schooling at Penang Free School, also in Penang. Showing strong interests in sports, he plays badminton, football and hockey. He has an elder brother Jaidev.
The family lives at 2N Lorong Delima 18, Island Glades, Penang.
