Lakshmana Iyer lived the early part of his life in Kanjikode, in Palakkad District, Kerala, India, working as a priest in the Temple there. He married Visalakshi, and later they moved to Penang, Malaysia (then Malaya). He worked as a priest at the Chettiars Sivan Temple in Dato Keramat Road, Penang, Malaysia, and lived at 96 Dato Keramat Road.
They had no children for many years. In 1969, a daughter, Mangalam
was born. In 1985 the family moved to Madras. Lakshmana Iyer died there, and a week later Visalakshi died too.
